Product Description

The PD 664 has a built-in triple-band mobile phone, and a Light-Link/RS485 P-NET interface. Using the mobile phone, the PD 664 can establish P-NET communication via GPRS.
All GPRS communication to and from the PD 664 is encrypted.
As well as P-NET communication, the PD 664 is also able to send and receive SMS messages:

  • SMS messages can be sent via an SMS output buffer, which can be written to from P‑NET.
  • SMS messages can be received via an SMS input buffer, which is readable from P‑NET.
  • Error conditions in the PD 664 can be reported as SMS messages.

Configuration parameters are stored on the SIM card.
The PD 664 uses the BM 010 Base Module.

A PD 664 GPRS device is equipped with 3 LED indicators, “Error” (red), “On” (green), and (green) “Link”. The state of the device is indicated by the LEDs, according to the scheme shown in the table.

If the Error LED is ON, the cause can be found by reading the ChError.Act bits 8-12 in the Service, GPRS and SMS Channels.

Communication interfaces
The PD 664 has 3 P-NET communication interfaces: A standard P-NET RS485 interface for communication with P-NET devices outside the local cluster, a P-NET Light-Link optical interface, intended for communication with P-NET devices within the local cluster, and a GPRS P-NET communication channel, which can be used to communicate with a P-NET Gateway Service via GPRS. The P-NET RS485 and the P-NET Light-Link interfaces provide the same functionality as a PD 663 Simple P-NET Interface. Its main purpose is to provide a transparent high-speed link between two or more clusters of PD 6xx devices.
PD 664 is a P-NET master on P-NET RS485 / P-NET Light-Link.
